For three hours on 1 September, the culture of ancient Pandian, Cholan and Cheran kingdoms were brought vividly alive as Yoganjali Natyalayam presented the famous Tamil play Silappadikaram at the Kamban Kalai Arangam in Pondicherry.

The three-hour dancedrama, featuring classical Bharatanatyam, folk dances and acrobatic natya karana-s, was presented as part of the celebration of the 96th birthday of the late Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj. He was the founder of Yoganjali Natyalayam and related institutions in Pondicherry.

More than 1000 persons packing the auditorium witnessed the spectacular dance-drama.
