Ananta Charan was born to a family of Chhau practcioners in 1915. He studied under Radhmohan Sai and Masters of the form such as Mohammed Deo. He promoted Chau extensively as Head Ustad at Mayurbhag Chhau Nritya Prashistan in Barupada.

Ananth Charn Sai passed away in 1989.
