Udayalur Kalyanarama Bhagavathar is a contemporary stalwart of the Dakshin Bhartiya Bhajana Sampradaya. He is known for reviving the essence of the form and is committed to the old tradition - Prachina Sangitam. He learnt the fundamentals of bhajana from his guru Venkatarama Bhagvathar. From both his parent's families he is associated with distinguished artists like Puthagaram Ayyaswamy Bhagavatar and Valkudi Santhana Bhagavatar. He also trained himself through listening and observation. He would travel to every village in the surrounding district, and assimilate the culture of devotion which was kept vibrant by patrons and temples as well as ‘Maths’. 

His soulful rendition, sonorous voice, clear enunciation and evocative emotional appeal are some of his prime strengths. 

Bhagvathar  also runs a trust called Bhagvatha Seva Trust that supports a number of other bhagvatha families who have spent their life in propagating sampradaya bhajan.
