T.M. Krishna (Thodur Madabusi Krishna) is a widely acclaimed Carnatic music vocalist. He was born in Chennai on January 22, 1976, into a family of music lovers. His mother was a Carnatic music graduate and running a music school, and his father had deep interest in music. His grand uncle T.T. Krishnamachari (former Indian finance minister and an industrialist) was one of the founder members of the Madras Music Academy. 

Wide exposure to music at an early age led Krishna to his initial training under B. Seetharama Sharma from the age of six. Later, he underwent special Ragam Thanam Pallavi grooming under Chengalpet Ranganathan and advanced training from the late Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for several years. His first concert was at the Spirit of Youth series organised by the Music Academy, Chennai. He has received Young Achievers Award by India Today and the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Award by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi among many other accolades. 

Krishna is known for his resonant voice and strict adherence to classicism. In 1998, Krishna, along with musicians Vijay Siva and Dr Sunder, authored the album titled Learning to Appreciate Carnatic Music. In 2001, along with musicians Bombay Jayashri and Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Krishna authored the birth centenary commemorative book for Prof. Sambamoorthy. In 2007, he co-authored and published a book with Bombay Jayashri titled Voices Within, the first coffee-table book of its kind, on the legends of Carnatic music. In 2013, he authored a book A Southern Music – The Karnatik Story. He is also working on audio archiving of the Sangeetha Sampradaya Pradarshini, a musical treatise concerning the compositions of Muthuswami Dikshitar. 

Krishna is a co-founder of Jnanarnava Trust, an organisation devoted to the research, documentation and archival of the ancient traditions in Carnatic music. (www.jnanarnava.org). He initiated Kalachara Marumalarchi, an organisation dedicated to the revival of cultural activities in the interior towns and villages of Tamil Nadu, India and to rejuvenate the function of temples as cultural hubs. He is also the co-founder of Sumanasa Foundation, an organisation to promote Carnatic music and musicians in and around rural areas by sponsoring upcoming musicians. Along with Bombay Jayashri he also co-founded 'Svanubhava’ a week long Carnatic music festival which provides a medium for young Carnatic musicians to interact with senior artists in the form of lec-dems and concerts.
