Amrit was initiated into South Indian Classical Music at the age of 5, by his parents N.Lakshmi & Vidwan Basavanagudi Shri G.Nataraj (Renowned Violinist of Karnataka). A proud student of Shri G. Harishankar, Amrit honed his technique to play the Khanjira. His Guru’s sudden and unexpected demise left a ‘never to be filled’ void not only in Carnatic Music, but also in Amrit’s life. Amrit had the proud privilege of sharing a very close personal relationship with his Guru Shri G Harishankar.
Amrit also learnt the mridangam from Shri M. Vasudeva and advanced training under Shri A.V.Anand.
Amrit was the recipient of the Yuva kala Bharathi in the year 2006 and is also the Recipient of the CCRT Scholarship for Khanjira from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development for 2 years.
